Bericht van Kees van der Westen:
"From December 2013 all Spirits will be equipped with the Stork PID temperature controllers for not just the steam boilers, but also the coffee boilers. The JUMO controller as used on the coffee boilers will be deleted. The Stork unit has been in use for the steam boilers since a long time.
The new version of this Stork controller comes with an ECO position. When keeping pressed the SET/ECO button for 5 seconds, it will allow the boiler temperature to drop. The steam boiler will go down to 70 degrees Celsius, the coffee boilers to 50 degrees. When keeping the button pressed again for 5 seconds, the boiler will return to full operating temperature in approx. 10 minutes.
The general idea is to save energy during the nights. Switching a machine completely off for one night, does not save much because long heating up times are needed in the morning. Also, the contracting and expanding of all metal parts may cause harm in the long run. Switching to a much lower temperature is a good compromise.
On coffee boilers this position can also be used during slow times to save energy.
Retro fitting is only possible with the older Stork steam controller. Exchanging a JUMO with a Stork requires very different holes in the body.
