De origine kan het land, de streek, de plantage en de "soort van" zijn.
Als je op een en dezelfde plantage verscheidene varianten hebt staan, kan je een blend maken van ....

Vul de rest zelf maar in.

Als je eens wist hoeveel Microboertjes er zijn met niet genoeg productie om ook maar 1 baal van 70 kilo te vullen, dan krijg je 1 soort van verschillende plantage(tjes) vaak hebben deze toch een onderling verschil, als je dat samenvoegt heb je al je blend.

The Coffee Ring Effect - Intriguing Microscopic Video

This never-before-seen footage from a laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Physics and Astronomy shows microscopic particles moving in a drop as it dries.

Penn physicists have recently shown that simply changing particle shape can eliminate the ring-shaped stain that is left behind when drops of certain liquids dry. In this video microscopy footage from their experiments, watch as spherical particles get swept to the edges, while oblong particles are distributed consistently.

Prachtig filmpje! Tegelijkertijd vind ik het ook niet eens zo vreemd, er is aan "kristalliserende" vloeistoffen zoveel te zien. Aan ijsbloemen op de ruit (wie heeft ze nog?) zou je b.v. kunnen zien welke ziektes de bewoners van het huis onder de leden hebben.

Wat ik hier dan wel weer opmerkelijk aan vind, is dat koffiedeeltjes blijkbaar altijd rond zijn?

Erg mooi om te zien!

Ik vind het ook bijzonder om te zien wat een druppel koffie doet op de platte bodem van een kop als daar een miniem laagje water in ligt. Het schiet alle kanten op, in draden. Wil ik nog een keer filmen.

Aeropress brew-station

The founders of the mobile Brewbar in The Midlands of England have created a custom contraption for Aeropress brewing that is one part pure functionality and one part Willy Wonka theatrics.

This is the second version of the custom machine designed by Bart Kerswell and Ben Collier. It responds to the fact that the Brewbar, which is outfitted for espresso drinks and Aeropress coffees, was getting backed up on Aeropress orders, resulting in coffees being rushed out to quickly and sore arms.

“We initially started off selling Aeropress coffee from our geodesic dome but got arm aches from pressing so many coffees,” tells Kerswell.

The Mark 2 version of the two-unit brew station involved adding gas struts with a set pressure that Kerwell says treats the Aeropress somewhat like an espresso machine set to 9 bar. A system of cogs and levers allows Kerswell and Collier free hands to attend to other activities at the bar.

The machine is also designed to create attention and promote more black coffee drinks, Kerwell says. “We have nothing against milk-based drinks — we do have an espresso machine in our van too,” he says. “We wanted the coffee to shine and not be hidden in the milk, and we feel that coffee as a whole in the UK is still very much milk-based. People will often opt for latte, which is a really shame when there are amazing brew techniques.

What Happens when a Hungarian Roaster Geeks Out on a Moka Pot for Months

Great brewed coffee. That’s what Gábor Laczkó of small hungarian roastery Kávékalmár says was finally achieved after months of trial and error with a classic Bialetti Brikka moka pot and all kinds of related brewing gear.

“I think this brewing method is highly neglected or misundertsood by many or most of the baristas and the coffee world,” Laczkó tells.

In this video, “Back to the Moka Pot,” Laczkó gets into the brewing process, which must surely be one-of-a-kind for mokas and involves all manners of cables, numerous sensors, a scale, a YCT 474UD Thermometer/datalogger, an HG-One grinder and some of Kávékalmár’s El Salvador Volcan del Chingo coffee:
