Sculptor 64S initial feedback
🔹️It is uses 64mm flat burrs that are special to Timemore. Additionally, it can fit all SSP 64mm burrs.
🔹️The adjustable RPM works great.
🔹️It has a minimalistic design. However, it is stable and sturdy due to its full metall body.
🔹️The motor is strong and capable of grinding for the lightest roasts for Turkish coffee. We have tried grinding 20g of light roasted coffee in Turkish coffee settings, and it had zero issue with chewing through them. However, when we sat the RPM at its lowest setting, the grinder stopped after grinding 10g as a safety off. Nonetheless, we are confident saying that it is more than sufficient for all home users as we were grinding (Light roast, Turkish coffee setting, lowest RPM), and still it went through the first 10g of them.
🔹️Tastewise:
The stock 64mm burrs are capable of grinding for both espresso and filter. Espresso shots were very good. Most of them were with good body, enjoyable clarity, and overall, balanced.
For filter they made decent brews. We won't say they were clear and crisp, but they were definitely enjoyable to drink.
.
🔸️The hopper has a strange internal design and we felt that it has the potential of improvements. It can fit 45g to 50g of medium roasted coffee, but you need to take your time while filling it as some coffee beans might slip away.
🔸️Some coffee beans might get stuck in the hopper, especially if you are doing more than one splash of water with RDT method.
🔸️The on/off switch is a bit too far to reach, especially if you place the grinder in a tight place.
🔸️The grind adjustments dial is step-less. However, the indicator is a bit far from the markings and you do need to focus while dialing in for espresso. It is designed to be a versatile one for all brewing methods, but we felt that it can be at least more specific in the 064s version.
.
.
Overall, considering the specail price tag of the Kickstarter campaign, the adjustable RPM, the versatility, and the ability to change the burrs, we are confident in saying that the Timemore Sculptor 064s is a wonderful option and that so many people will be pleased with it 💯👌
Sculptor 78S initial feedback
As for the the Timemore Sculptor 078s. It has a higher price tag. However, it is has a more luxurious overall build quality.
🔹️The ground catcher cup is thicker and the magnets are smoother with higher quality and better tolerance.
🔹️The motor is more powerful at 400w, compared to the 150w of the Sculptor 064s. It had zero issues grinding for light roasted coffee beans in Turkish coffee settings and at the lowest RPM.
🔹️The burrs on the 078s are extremely sharp and well made. The filter coffee from them in our opinion, filter coffee from them was even more interesting and enjoyable than the one from 078. The coffee was clean, extremely crisp and sweet, with syrupy body at the same time.
🔹️Espresso shots from the 078s need more time to test. They are mostly delicious, however, due to the need for seasoning the burrs, extractios were not clean and they were slightly improving after each few shots. The burrs are too sharp and they need around 2kg to 5kg of coffee to have their full potential in espresso.
🔸️Similar to the 064s, we wish that the grind dial indicator could be more accurate and espresso focused rather than a versatile one.
🔸️Similar to the 064s, the hopper is not as practical as we wished for. However, those can be easily upgraded in the future.
.
Overall, we personally loved the 078s. If you have the budget and want something extremely efficient, powerful, and versatile, you can never go wrong with the 078s. Additionally, after trying all of SSP burrs, we felt that the burrs on the 078s could leave you satisfied enough without th need to wish for trying different burrs 💯

Gaaf!

Nog even geduld.

Is toch zo gebeurt?

We gaan t zien!
